Meet Your Coach

Elise Elliott-Smith
Holistic Health and Nutrition Coach
I have long had an interest in healthy eating and science but pursued a second career in health coaching after dealing with a number of personal challenges. One of these challenges was losing my mom to Alzheimer’s Disease and as a mom of young kids I wanted to do everything I could to make sure I would be around to meet and remember meeting my grandkids one day. So, I found myself spending my spare time researching lifestyle changes I could make to prevent Alzheimer’s Disease. But a more immediate concern was that stress had started to affect my physical, mental, and hormonal health. Through exercise, nutrition, and other lifestyle changes I came to a happier, healthy place with good balance and passion and I decided I wanted to help others.
I decided to go back to school to become a health coach. I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories – Ayurveda, gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics, and everything in between. After graduating, I continued my education by completing an additional course in hormone health, where I learned about thyroid health, optimizing fertility, and managing menopausal symptoms (in addition to other hormone related issues in women and men). During my studies I have developed a particular interest in Functional Medicine. I have connections with local Functional Medicine practitioners and am working independently to learn more about Functional Medicine.
In addition to health coaching I also study birds of conservation concern and have earned a MS in Wildlife Biology.
